All tuition is based on a 14 week semester
**A $30 annual registration fee will be assessed to each family. Each family will receive a 10% discount for additional classes of equal or lesser value purchased under the same family.**
Kids Offerings
wee drum | ages 2-4 with adult
Students and parents learn to play together in our hands-on percussion & drumming class specifically designed for the youngest drummers. Everyone loves drums, but we especially love using drums as the vehicle to help children develop important life skills like sharing, patience, listening, and focus. Required Supplies: an adult.
Explorations in Rhythm | ages 5-7
Structured similar to a general music class, students are given an engaging, hands-on introduction to the wide world of percussion and rhythm from across the globe. These exploratory classes are an excellent opportunity to test the waters before making a greater commitment to lessons and performing ensembles. No prior experience or instrument purchases required. Required Supplies: notebook, pencil.
total percussion | ages 10-14
Students will begin, or continue their exploration of the wide world of percussion, including the percussion instruments that drive and color the orchestra, melodic instruments such as marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, and a wide array of traditional percussion from around the globe. With an emphasis on reading, writing, and playing music together, this course builds upon previously learned skills in Wee DRUM and Explorations in Rhythm, and prepares students as they progress into school band programs and Private Lessons. No prior experience required. Required Supplies: practice pad, drumsticks, notebook, pencil.
DRUM Set Experience | ages 8-14
This class is perfect for students who are interested in drum set, but have never had the opportunity to take formal classes. Students will get an introduction to the drum set; playing, practice, care, & maintenance. No prior experience required. Required Supplies: practice pad, drumsticks, notebook, pencil.
DRUM Set Experience Intermediate
This class is the next step for students who have taken our DRUM Set Experience class for at least on semester or has previous experience playing drum set and a successful assessment from a DPS instructor.
DPS expectations – Ready, Set, Focus, processes instruction & implements corrections well, practice outside of class, prepared with all materials, follows & retains studio procedures
Technique – Excellent knowledge & demonstration of grip, angle, stroke
Reading – quarters, eighths, sixteenths, quarter rests; understanding of reading sheet music & drum charts
Playing skills (SD & DS) – Rhythm Tree; 8 on a Hand; Singles, Doubles, Paradiddles, Money Beat
Required Supplies: practice pad, drumsticks, notebook, pencil.
Ensembles
Youth Percussion Ensemble
Students serious about playing and performing learn a vast repertoire of traditional & contemporary music, then perform at events in our community & beyond. Members of the Youth Percussion Ensemble should have a high level of commitment and participation to their percussion studies and to studio events and performances. 1.5 hr rehearsals once a week throughout the calendar year. Youth Percussion Ensemble tuition is annual.
Youth Percussion Ensemble pre-requisites: must be currently enrolled in Private Lessons and have an instructor recommendation.
DRUM Together Ensemble
Our latest ensemble is designed for students who are ready to rehearse and play in an ensemble with others in addition to their weekly private lessons or class. Parents we want YOU, too! We don’t get a lot of opportunities to LEARN and PLAY with our kids, so let’s DRUM Together.
DRUM Together Ensemble pre-requisites: must be currently enrolled in Private Lesson or group class and have an instructor recommendation (adult participants/parents do not have to be enrolled in a separate offering, but must create their own student account and register separately from their child).
Adult Ensemble
Adults can perform too! The Adult Ensemble is a performance based group that meets once a week for 1.5 hour rehearsals.
Adult Ensemble pre-requisites: must have at least 2 semesters of instruction (group class and/or private lesson) and an instructor recommendation.
*Adult Ensemble Tuition: $400/sem or $200/sem if concurrently enrolled in Private Lessons or class.*
Pre-Collegiate Mentorship Program
This program is designed for advanced High School students with aspirations of studying music in college. Students will focus on building repertoire and chamber performance skills. Limited membership is open to high school students currently enrolled in Private Lessons, and subject to current openings and successful audition/Director’s approval. This group meets once a week for 1.5 hrs. Tuition is annual.
Adult Offerings

Marimba & More
Explore the melodic side of percussion with instruments including marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, and more. A great alternative to piano with a fun, unique twist! Previous piano/music experience recommended. No instrument purchases required. Required Supplies: mallets, notebook, pencil.
Private Lessons
Private lessons | ages 8+
***For beginners, we recommend one of our many group class offerings (above).***
Traditional one-on-one or small group lessons available for those ready to commit to more formal study. Students work to develop greater in-depth understanding and facility on the instruments and topics of their choosing. Lessons are offered in the traditional, one-on-one, format, and small group (3 students), pending availability. Lessons meet 1hr/week. Required Supplies: practice pad, drumsticks, mallets (dependent on course of study), notebook, pencil, DRUM Percussion Studio Workbook ($30).
